Sadly far too many animals are kept in horrible conditions – with some even being abused and neglected by their owners.
Eight severely neglected dogs were found abandoned in a village in Leicestershire with matted hair and covered in faeces on Monday. A further seven were discovered in Norfolk.
The poor dogs, which included two cockapoos, two Lhasa-apsos and four Newfoundlands were taken in by the RSPCA.
Inspector Kate Burris described the condition the animals were found in as ‘heartbreaking’.
She said: “It is absolutely heartbreaking to see the condition these dogs have been left in, I don’t know how anyone could let them get into such a state.
“It’s as if they have never seen the light of day, or been on a lead.”
Now the dogs have been looked after by the RSPCA they look almost unrecognisable. Without their matted, dirty fur they appear much happier and healthier.
People reacting to the pictures on Facebook are outraged by the treatment of the dogs.
One person wrote: “Absolutely heartbreaking, these people need to be stopped”.
Another said: “Terrible to let this poor dogs to not be loved only heartless people can do this poor cruelty”.
A third wrote: “In tears here …I need to go and bring one home”.
