A girl visited her grandmother and found a stray dog wandering in the elderly lady’s yard. Concerned for the dog’s welfare, she contacted a rescue organization. When the organization saw the video of the emaciated dog, they knew they had to save her. But when they arrived, the dog had disappeared.
Undeterred, the volunteers searched high and low until one of them found Ivy hiding in a bush. The sight of her was heart-wrenching. There was no justification for why she was in such a state. She had been starved for six months, and it showed. She looked like a skeleton of a baby bird rather than a dog. Her skin was in a terrible condition, covered in infected sores, and her eyes looked like she had seen the worst.
When the volunteers offered her food, Ivy hesitated before eating, as if it was her first time seeing good food. She was diagnosed with Babesiosis, and a blood transfusion was made to save her life. After a medicated bath, Ivy was taken to the vet, where she fought bravely, but she needed all the luck in the world to recover.
Thankfully, Ivy’s condition improved each day, gaining weight and confidence. She enjoyed tucking into her chicken dinner, thanks to those who donated for her meals. After seven days at the vet, Ivy was able to leave and start her new life. As she boarded the happy bus to her new home in the UK with her new godmother, Ivy’s tail wagged with excitement.
She could barely believe her eyes that she was receiving such a treat. Ivy’s life changed forever, and she was now in her new home, safe, and happy.
